形態特徵

• Perennials; culms branched, basal nodes prostrate, straggling, flowering culm to 1 m high. Plant body covered with villous glandular hairs, slightly strickly, with a smell like that of molasses.
• Blade linear, pubescent, 5-10 cm long, 5-8 mm wide; ligule small, membranaceous; sheath sparingly covered with villous hairs, loose, shorter than internode.
• Panicle open, 10-20 cm long, purplish. Spikelets ca. 2 mm long, ovate-elliptic, more or less laterally compressed; lower glume minute, veinless; upper glume with veins prominent, 2-fid at apex and short awn protruding form sinus; lower lemma 2-fid, glabrous, with a long awn of ca. 10 mm long; upper floret coriaceous, shorter than lower lemma, falling off when mature.

• 台灣 : naturalized in open grassland and disturbed places.
• 世界 : Originally from Africa, introduced elsewhere.
